When it comes to scale-size motorsport thrills, few hobbies can match the untethered thrills of R/C cars. Whether screaming across the asphalt or bounding over a dirt course, R/C cars offer enthusiasts an ever-increasing level of power, detail, and sophistication. In this volume for veteran and newbie R/C enthusiasts alike, ace hobby writer Robert Schleicher offers a fully illustrated guide to both electric and fuel remote-control vehicles. From selecting the right scale and tending to the power source to tuning the chassis and choosing gear ratios and tires, Schleicher covers all the angles that go into R/C driving. He also considers nitro power, painting and decals, off-road driving techniques, setting up road-race courses in parking lots, and even building off-road courses. Appendices include a glossary and information on clubs, publications, and suppliers.
Tamiya Toyota Tom's 84C
Tamiya updates their popular Toyota Tom’s 84C Group C race car with an all new RM-01 chassis that features a direct drive 2WD setup and pivot-ball link rear suspension. Read the press release below for more info:
In 1985, Tamiya released a 1/12 scale R/C model of the Toyota Tom’s 84C Group C race car and it enjoyed a great reputation. In recent years, the 1/12 scale class has become a very popular R/C race class once again. To re-enter this exciting class, Tamiya’s Toyota Tom’s 84C will be making a return on the brand-new RM-01 chassis. This new chassis features a Direct Drive 2WD setup and a Pivot-Ball Link Rear (PBLR) suspension to offer linear throttle and steering response and realistic racing action.
All-New RM-01 Chassis
This chassis features a 2.5mm thick black-colored FRP lower deck and a height adjustable resin gear case with type 380 motor. Pivot-Ball Link Rear (PBLR) suspension system features a center pivot ball, a pitch damper to temper chassis pitch movement, and a roll damper and side links to control chassis roll. Aluminum diff housing allows ball differential adjustment without detaching rear wheel. Attachment of both hex-hub-secured and 3-screw secured wheels are possible. Front independent suspension features optimized kingpin trail. The standard type 380 motor is installed by using an adapter, which may be removed to allow installation of type 540 motors.
Electric Buggy Spanish Championshi: Viper RC Sweeps 2WD And 4WD ...
The 2WD event was as usual held on Sunday and is by far the main attraction at the national series with almost 80% of the sign ups. Following his good form from previous weekends racing, Viper driver Zacarias Villalba dominated the race taking three out of five qualifiers and all three A-finals with his Viper powered Ansmann X2. Once again local driver David Bustos and Raul Solano took second and third respectively. Zack`s VTX10 powered car was clearly the fastest car on the track, setting the fastest lap of the race with 26.5 seconds, almost a second faster than anybody else. The Viper VTX10 and Viper VST 9.5T provided the perfect combination with smooth and constant power and brake delivery for the difficult and extremely rutted (bumpy) track.
JConcepts Indoor National Series Overall Results - Radio Control ...
Announced early 2011, the JConcepts Indoor National Championship Series consisted of four rounds at various indoor track locations across the nation. The series started out in St. Louis, Missouri, at SmacTrac, then moved out West to OC/RC in Huntington Beach, California, and then up the coast to Outback Raceway in Chico, California, before rounding out at R/C Excitement in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Gaining points at each round, drivers competed to become the first Indoor National Series Champion. With Mr. JConcepts Jason Ruona at the helm of the organization and Associated Team Manager Brent Thielke both in attendance at every round, the series brought exposure and heated competition at each stop. Averaging close to 250 entries per round, attendance and series interest remained strong throughout the year with lots of local and regional support, making the events popular and a "must attend" for many top regional racers.
