Out of Tune
I know it's a toy, but this xylophone is offensively out of tune. I wouldn't subject anyone to it. It's terrible. -
Great for Little Musicians!
This is a great xylophone! It has a great sound and holds up to heavy duty playing. I've found this to be one of the best instruments for young children. All kids love to play with toys that make noise and enjoy whacking stuff. This xylophone is excellent since in addition to fulfilling those...

I'm doing a project on the Xylophone, and could somebody tell me who are some famous xylophone players? either like ragtime players, or really old history guys. And anything else you may know that is interesting.
Well, I met this guy a while back in New York... Ian Finkel who bills himself as the world's greatest xylophone virtuoso.

I played a bit of xylophone at the beging of the year. I never got really into scales and stuff like that; I basically just learned enough to be able to play the marching show we were doing this year.
Xylophones kind of look like...
In short, no, not really. Even the "lower ranged" xylophones (a.k.a.- Orff instruments, which aren't all that popular in the first place) still play in the treble clef range (with the except. Keep in mind that the xylophone sounds an octave above written -- for instance

Playing musical instruments can help adults overcome depression
London, August 01 (ANI): A research has suggested that playing musical instruments can help people overcome depression.
Researchers found that adults who were given music therapy sessions, in which they played drums or instruments such as xylophones, showed fewer symptoms of depression or anxiety than those who just had standard counselling.
They suggested that it helped patients express their emotions along with being a pleasurable activity in its own right.
“We found that people often expressed their inner pressure and feelings by drumming or with the tones produced with a mallet instrument. Some people described their playing experience as cathartic,” the Telegraph quoted Professor Jaakko Erkkila, who led the study at the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland, as saying.
Prof Christian Gold said: “Our trial has shown that music therapy, when added to standard care including medication, psychotherapy and counselling, helps people to improve their levels of depression and anxiety.
Child Central Station: Xylophones and Outdoor Music (Originally ...
I've wanted to make an outdoor area for music for quite some time. We had a new fence installed around the play area, and my thought was to put a HUGE xylophone on the fence, like the one we saw mounted on the wall at the U.P. Children's Museum. However, after being inspired with additional ideas for an outdoor area through following Teach Preschool on Facebook, we have opted to create an entire section of our outdoor play space to making music! The xylophone is made out of scrap 2x4 pieces. We started with a 10" piece and cut pieces up to 40" long, each piece being 2" longer than the previous. The children had fun counting by twos. Unfortunately, the camera battery needed to be charged when we started our project. A couple of children helped to measure the pieces to be cut with a circular saw. Then each piece was drilled 3" from each end to allow for the string to be thread....
Human Xylophones and more | Denny and Lee Magic Studio
When Keith Fields lectured here at our Magic Studio in Baltimore, he performed the Human Xylophone. He only had three with him at the time and immediately after the lecture, three guys jumped up to get what he had left. All three guys were “working pwrformers.” They saw the value and potential of this great piece of entertainment. It is NOT a magic trick but is really is a great bit of entertainment. Del Ray was considered the most innovative magician of the 20th century. Secretly intermingling technologies with traditional trickery, he performed miracles of magic that were unlike those of any other magician. Throughout his life, he passionately guarded the secrets of both his professional and personal affairs. Because Del Ray remained steadfast in his refusals to ever discuss or share his magic, his magician friends and fans feared that a book on his life would never see print. Now, seven years after Del...
