cute toy for kids
This was alot smaller than I expected it to be but thats my fault ( I should have read the measurements!)It is a very cute xylophone though. It came in a cute box and it is relatively sturdy. Music Appreciation for Tots
This Xylophone is quite small and for now is the perfect size for the smallest children who love music. Due to this small size, this one will have to be replaced with a larger unit as the child grows. The mallets are wooden sticks that do not seem to be safe enough for young children to use...

Courtney's SandCastle Playground Still $200000 from Goal
The group raising money to build the second phase of Courtney’s SandCastle, a playground at the new sports park accessible to disabled and able-bodied children, is $200,000 away from its goal.
With $100,000 in the bank, the group is working on securing grants, said fundraising organizer Don Glasgow.

In addition to businesses and organizations in town, such as the Rotary club , fundraisers for Courtney’s SandCastle are hosting a golf tournament at the Talega Golf Club on Sept. 16 .
Phase I of the project was paid for by the city and rolled into the construction of the new La Pata-Vista Hermosa sports park. That phase included play structures, including a giant outdoor xylophone and a sandbox, Glasgow said.
Phase II will include water attractions and a “sensory garden,” with all sorts of different plants and features.
Kids Music 101: Xylophones and Glockenspiels
Everyone knows that a xylophone is a classic child’s toy loved the world over. But did you know that most of the toys that are called xylophones are in fact glockenspiels? A true xylophone has wooden bars. The name comes from the Greek: “xylo” means wood and “phone” means sound. Instruments that look and play like a xylophone, but have metal bars, are really glockenspiels: from the German meaning to “play the bells”. Did you also know that xylophones and glockenspiels are high quality precision musical instruments that when simplified and manufactured as toys lose some of their highly appealing characters?
For some unknown reason toy manufacturers have been wrongly calling their creations with metal bars “xylophones.” This is almost universal and it seems only the specialist musical instrument manufacturers name these instruments correctly, and worse the market is flooded with really poor quality toys with highly respectable brand names that disappoint consumers because although they may be well made in all other respects, the sound is simply atrocious. I've wanted to make an outdoor area for music for quite some time. We had a new fence installed around the play area, and my thought was to put a HUGE xylophone on the fence, like the one we saw mounted on the wall at the U.P. Children's Museum. However, after being inspired with additional ideas for an outdoor area through following Teach Preschool on Facebook, we have opted to create an entire section of our outdoor play space to making music! The xylophone is made out of scrap 2x4 pieces. We started with a 10" piece and cut pieces up to 40" long, each piece being 2" longer than the previous. The children had fun counting by twos. Unfortunately, the camera battery needed to be charged when we started our project. A couple of children helped to measure the pieces to be cut with a circular saw.
