Opening with the stirring sounds of a violin to Toy Train, Pocket Satellite started the evening off. Sounding quite dramatic it turned into something rather delightful. Pocket Satellite simply have the ability make you smile. The vocals between Maya and Carl provide uplifting harmonies and surrounded by a plethora of instruments each played by various members of the band. It’s not often you see a drummer on the violin or a keyboardist with a double bass. Pocket Satellite are a band who truly enjoy playing live, their set evolved going from track to track included Parachute and as Maya put it ’the cheesy song’, Windows . The crowd enjoyed and participated as it should with fondness, contentment and smiles all round.
Paul Thomas Saunders had taken a short trip down the road for Leeds to join us tonight. A singer songwriter with an amazing voice appeared to make the crowd come to a standstill and simply watch in awe. Appointment in Samarra was definitely a standout track. His lyrics have a way of penetrating every pore of your body, haunting you with his vocals and embracing with the magic that Saunders is able to create through music alone. Entranced by a very emotive set it was something very wonderful indeed.

5) My first violin toy had a problem, and Planet Shops was really an easy task to help on returns. Planet Shops explained they’ve got occasionally had this issue with this particular product plus they could actually ship a 2nd violin prior to my son’s birthday a week later. (The problem was that the demo button worked, however the bowing action would not produce music – so somewhere the electrical circuit had been broken, and connecting two strings using the bow did not produce the sound.) Planet Shops even opted for test the next violin toy before sending it to me to make sure it absolutely was an operating toy. I caught my three years old grandson pretending to try out music by running a stick across another stick…that he was playing a violin. Hmmmm I thought…just maybe??? I called our local Suzuki school and so they suggested we delay until he was 4 yrs old to give him violin lessons. I saw the electronic toy violin and thought it could provide him with something just a little better than two sticks to obtain a feel for the true instrument…which it did. He’s learning how to properly support the instrument (his mother played violin and i also the viola, as children), and also to properly run the bow through the bridge. The programmed tunes are extremely nice. I enjoy that the tunes are played in line with the child running the bow in the bridge in the violin. The aren’t real strings, so there is absolutely no worry a 3 yr old will break the strings. My grandson thinks that he’s actually playing and making music. I do believe this little violin shld certainly be a required toy for evry child who offers to take violin/viola lessons. My grandson will type in the class next Spring with the much kowledge and skills in regards to the violin. Also, who could ask for a better price! My only complaint is that an incident for the instrument shld happen to be offered. I would like him to lean to set his instrument away when he’s finished playing. And locating a violin inside the toy box is not best for the instrument....
