US Air Guitar National Champion Justin Howard, aka Nordic Thunder
Justin Howard: First and foremost, I’m a huge fan of music. If I’m listening to a jam and it’s got a good guitar part, I’m going to air guitar. It’s something I’ve always done.
The first time I got serious about it, though—I’m originally from Wyoming, and I was out there visiting. The night before I was supposed to fly back, I was in my buddy’s living room playing air guitar with friends and I turned weird and something happened. I couldn’t straighten my leg out, and this was a couple of hours before I was supposed to get on a plane. So I went to the hospital and got an X-Ray, but they told me I needed an MRI, which I’d have to get in Chicago. I got crutches and got on the plane, and came back to Chicago. My first day back, I saw a flyer at John Barleycorn’s of all places for a U.S. Air Guitar competition.

Also, try pushing your elbow out from your body so that your fingers, wrist and elbow form a straight line, this takes the pressure off the wrist. Good Luck!...
