  1. there is a trick to getting it to "reload" that is too hard
    In order to put jack back in the box it must be in between songs. If you try to relatch it once the music has begun it doesn't work. That is clearly stated in the instructions but is very difficult for a one or a two year old to understand. I feel that the kids who enjoy this the most are babies...

What are the origins the jack in the box toy?

I had two replies saying that taking in the toy box behind a "slave in a box", but personally I do not think this is the case for making the box cover of the head punch or a clown, devil, or puncinella.


A theory as to the origin of the jack-in-the-box is that it comes from the 13th century English prelate Sir John Schorne who is often pictured holding a boot with a devil in it.

Viral Video: A baby reacts to his new toy, Jack-in-the-Box

A funny thing happened just the other day. A demonic parent decided that it would be hilarious to film their child playing with a Jack-in-the-box.

It just so happens, JITB ranks up there with Chuckie, things under the bed, as well as things hiding in the closet. Lest we forget the forever haunting boogeyman.

Maybe I am not old-fashioned enough but it seems to me that JITB is only funny the first 2 or 3 times a kid gets scared out of his skin.

And that is just what happens to this little baby whose video was uploaded to YouTube by user BabiesKnowBest.
