We received this flute within 7 - 10 days of ordering it. My daughter who is 10 loves it and we were very happy with the quality of the flute. One of the keys were not playing correctly after 7 months and I contacted them and they immediately responded back to me to send it to them. Once they...

I bought this flute as a replacement for the one I had growing up so that I could practice with my daughter who plays clarinet. So far, this has turned out to be a great deal and I am very satisfied! I definitely recommend for anyone just starting out with the flute or as a replacement! This is...

Flute....?

I don't know why, but lately, I really want to play the flute. Is it hard to learn and play? And do you know any facts that might convince my parents to let me get one? I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Like the others mentioned, you should join your school's band.
The flute can be hard to play at first, and many beginners get lightheaded. See if one of your friends has a flute you could borrow for a day. I started out with a Standard of Excellence flute book.

how do u play the flute and what is the best website that u dont have to buy that shows u what are the notes

Here's a cool website that when you click on the note, it tells you what note it is and what the fingering is. You probably would need to take flute lessons to learn how to play the flute. To blow into the flute, make your lips into the shape like you would be whistling. Then

Seattle Opera announces balanced budget for 2010-11

Seattle Opera has balanced its budget for the 18th time in 19 years, the opera board announced on Tuesday night.

The original budget for the season — which included productions of "Tristan und Isolde," "Barber of Seville" and "Magic Flute" — totaled more than $23 million; the total expense budget for the season (unaudited) is projected to be just less than $21.5 million.

Cost-cutting measures the opera initiated in response to economic downturn have included furloughs, pay freezes and modified contracts.

The opera pointed out in a news release that its planning process "stressed creativity, innovation, and frugality" during the past season; for instance, the company's production of "Tristan und Isolde" used projection technology and "Lucia di Lammermoor" featured scenery redesigned from another Seattle Opera production.

Also new this year was the opera's series of community-engagement activities, including "The Barber of Seattle" competition and "Flute-a-palooza" open house. More than 27,000 people participated in non-mainstage programs this season, the opera reported.

The Session: Discussions - recommended flute makers??

Recommended flute makers?? recommended flute makers??

I'm thinking of buying a new flute. I currently play a keyless De Keyser which I've had for the past three years. Its a nice flute but Im looking for a 6 keyed flute with a good strong loud tone. Ive heard that Murray, Grinter and Doyle flutes are good but are they what Im looking for? Im a lefty and Ive heard that certain makers dont make left handed flutes or charge considerably more for them?? Im also looking for something under E2000. Any suggestions?

Re: recommended flute makers??

Lefty can be challenging to find. Wouldn't hurt to let Doc Jones (at the Irish Flute Store online http://shop.irishflutestore.com ) know what you're looking for. He sees a lot of flutes. I agree with the above, a good flute maker should be able to provide a leftie flute. That said i can't find any confirming info on Doyle's site and Grinters seem to be down....

Microsoft pays $5000 for flute - Cambridgeshire girl becomes Excel ...

A fruity girl has shot to worldwide fame by being really very good at using Microsoft Office. Where was she this morning when we couldn't find the bleeding character map? Those déjà vus don't write themselves.

Yes, the anticipated "2011 Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office" has come to a close, where 15 year old Rebecca Rickwood, from Cambridgeshire beat 79 finalists in a gruelling battle as the world watched on. But did she beat Office 97's Fright Stimulator easter egg? We dunno.

Rickwood can now tell every temping agency to bog off with its Office proficiency tests. She didn't think she'd win the top accolade, Rickwood told the Telegraph .

Expertise in Volish dogma is clearly handed down between generations - with Rickwood's mum teaching Microsoft products to students at her school.
