TEMECULA: Farmers honored in feed store's big maze
The state's farmers are being honored this year in Big Horse Feed's 11- acre corn maze, the centerpiece of the Temecula store's annual fall harvest festival .
Along with an outline of the state and a bear ---- a nod to the state flag ---- the maze features the words: " California farmers feeding the world ."
The design of the maze, touted by Big Horse as the largest in Southern California, changes each year. In past years, the themes have featured salutes to the nation's Constitution and its veterans.
In addition to the opening of the maze, set for 10 a.m. Saturday, the first weekend of the monthlong festival includes an appearance by reality television stars Sunday.
The reality star challenge, organized by the founders of the Reality Rally , is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The stars will be competing in "Survivor "-esque challenges in teams to raise money for local nonprofits.
The appearance will serve as a sort of reunion for some of the stars, as Big Horse Feed was one of the sites used during April's Reality Rally event, a competition that combined elements of "The Amazing Race" and "Survivor" to raise money for a breast cancer nonprofit.
