A WONDERFUL video for teaching the alphabet!
My 24-month-old son has a speech delay. He knows only about 15 words, even though he's been receiving speech therapy. Imagine my surprise, then, when he started holding up his alphabet blocks this week and saying the names of several letters out loud! I've been playing this video for him every...
I'm getting ready to start working at home with my 4 year old. I'm trying to teach her the ABC's, the order (a,b,c,d,e...) and writing them. How long should we spend on each letter? And should I teach her the capitol and the small case at the...
You'll have to feel your way around. Each child learns differently and a different rate. You have a great one on one advantage, use it! On average a letter week is good. Do both upper and lower case at the same time.
My three year old son doesn't have any interest in learning letters or numbers. When we sing the ABC song the only letter he will say is "O". Is he defiant or do I need to get him help?
I would spell out loud in front of him. For example, tell a friend (within his earshot, of course) "I got my son a T-O-Y for being such a good boy." This should get his interest, and if he says what's that, you could say "Well this T-O-Y is something you play

Serving up Medicare's Alphabet Soup
Serving up Medicare’s Alphabet Soup
These days I find myself singing the Jackson 5’s lyrics: A-B-C, it’s as easy as 1-2-3. The lyrics inspire a desired future state where Medicare is better understood. But we’re not there yet. A recent study showed that only a small percentage of the senior population understood how Medicare works.
Acronyms and letters are synonymous with Medicare. So let’s tackle the alphabet soup of Medicare. I hope readers will better understand the A-B-C’s of Medicare, and, who knows, maybe it will become easy as 1-2-3. So, let’s get started!
What is Medicare? Medicare is health insurance for people age 65 or older, and for younger people with certain disabilities. It was introduced in 1965 to provide Americans more affordable access to health care in their retirement. It is funded by Social Security and Medicare payroll taxes that have been deducted from our paychecks throughout your working lives. If you or your spouse have worked for at least ten years for an employer who paid Medicare taxes, are age 65, and are a US citizen or permanent resident, you qualify to receive this benefit.
iBuild ABCs: The iPad App for Learning the Alphabet and Building ...
Chris Kieffer has created a beautifully designed iPad app that helps children learn the alphabet an have fun. iBuild ABCs is a great combination of puzzle building and letter recognition.
I am very impressed with how this app looks and sounds and it is by far the most creative and original approaches I have come across to alphabet recognition. Well done! I think Chris is brilliant, and through our correspondence I learned he built this app for his three-year old son who loves the alphabet and building things. (My daughter, also three, enjoyed the app as well.) Chris is a self-taught programmer that hope to build more apps for education.
iBuild ABCs offers the user a blueprint diagram of the letter they chose to build and the construction pieces necessary for assembly. The user assembles the pieces on top of the blueprint in a logical order. The pieces turn when they are dragged to the blueprint so the user can find proper placement. Some critical thinking is needed to finish each job; a wonderful but rare element in children’s apps....
