Fantastic toy, and even better customer service
My 3 1/2 year old daughter got this from Santa for Christmas, along with a few other Melissa & Doug sets. We are big fans of this toy company, so far all the sets we have purchased have been durable and well made, my daughter loved her alphabet puzzle with sound from last year, it still works... -
Amazing learning toy!
My 2 year old son is on the Autism Spectrum and tends to think in a very visual manner. He absolutely adores this toy! When I saw the recommended age, I was a bit hesitant, but I'm so glad that I went ahead and got it!

I am having trouble teaching my 3-year-old son his alphabet and numbers. First of all, because I know people love to make comments about pushing your kids to learn, my son is interested in learning, but he seems to have a hard time with...
Does he know the alphabet song? If he does that is good. Next start with the letters in his name. Kids like letters that mean something to them instead of being random.
I been trying to teach my son for along time but he still doesn't get the hang of it any suggestions on how to help him learn??
Try any Leapfrog, or Vtech product... If you can not afford it, then choose three letters a day, ex. A,B,C....
1) Hold his hand and help him write it, so he understands what it looks like (Then if he can, have him write it on his own)

Homeschooling generally covers any schooling done under the guidance of parents or guardians. Some homeschoolers use an online program, others use traditional texts and still others create their own curriculum from a variety of sources (library, internet, local co-ops, etc.).
Some online schooling is run by the public schools or the state, such as the K12 programs that are available in some areas. These types of programs are not homeschooling, but rather public schooling at home because the parents are not the responsible parties, the public school is the one doing the administration.
You do not need a formal curriculum for homeschooling, especially at the preschool age. You also do not need a schedule-a routine is good. There is no set schedule for homeschooling-you find what works for your family/child and go with that.
First, I suggest you visit the Worldbook Encyclopedia website. Click on parents, and then on Typical Course of Study. They have a Scope and Sequence for each grade level from Preschool-12....
3 Year Old Counting / ABCs? | How To Deal With Children ?
Looking for some creative ways to help my child be interested in actually counting and learning his ABCs
When he counts for some reason he goes ‘ one two eleven eight’. No matter how many times we try to teach him otherwise, which is everyday everytime we practice counting, he still goes back to the 1 2 11 8. I dont get too frustrated but I feel like he’s not trying or isn’t interested at all.
As far as abc’s he knows A B Q X. He DOES know the Abc song. But he can’t relate them to actual letters. Which I completely understand!
So I was wondering what are some creative ways that other people have tried to teach their children these things? First off some of you guys don’t have to act so rude. The only reason I asked is because some people around here act like at 3 he needs to know.

As far as teaching I do flash cards once a day. Its not like im making him sit down and forcing him to do them, if he doesn’t know them I just tell him what they are. I wouldn’t so much call it ‘practicing’ I try to make a game of it but I was just looking for other ways to do this.
