Makeni Police Officers Salute President Koroma's “Agenda for Change”
In her tuition the National Coordinator and Second-in-Command of ABC Secretariat, Mrs. Nanette Thomas underscored the police as an important institution for the promotion of good governance. The police, she said, must be aware that they can only make this national contribution provided the public that is supposed to be protected, trust them. Madam Thomas claimed that the police have lost this valued public confidence simply because they are indulging in criminal activities. She condemned police officers who are in the habit of taking bribes, conniving with hardcore criminals to fleece investors and abating with lawless persons. Madam Thomas called on the police to see reason in ranking nationalism above personal aggrandizement. According to her this can be done by setting themselves higher ambitions and standards.

Featured Post Death in Rome
What it is: Death in Rome is an interactive history experience from the BBC. The game takes place in the year 80AD where Tiberius Claudius Eutychus is found dead in his apartment. Students must put their sleuth skills to work as they investigate clues scattered around the room to solve the mystery. They have until dawn to crack the case. In addition to clues in the room, students can “talk” to modern-day experts for additional information, and interrogate witnesses. How to integrate Death in Rome into your curriculum: Death in Rome is a fantastic exercise in critical thinking, reasoning, and deduction. Students will learn about ancient Rome, using clues to solve a mystery, and find out how engaging and interesting history can be. Death in Rome would make a great partner activity. Students can work together in teams to solve the crime. When each team has cracked the case, they can share the strategy they used and the clues that tipped them off to the solution. If you don’t have access to a lab setting, solve the case as a class using a projector or interactive whiteboard. Students can take turns at the board acting as investigators and leading the investigation. As the game progresses, those students at their seats can make note of the clues and offer conjectures as to what the clues reveal about the death. Tips: Because of the subject matter, this game probably isn’t appropriate for students under the age of 10. I recommend playing through the game yourself to decide if it is appropriate for your age group. Older students will enjoy playing investigator! Please leave a comment and share how you are using Death in Rome in your classroom!...

I just found your site and love your creative ideas. I am trying to think of a way to adapt this concept to my 16 month old in a way that doesn’t create a complete mess (and is safe if she tries to eat the “sand”). I thought about using uncooked rice for the sand. Any suggestions?
I am listing your site on my Baby Development Resources page. While we focus on baby development, I think my readers would love your creative ideas and would find great ways to adapt them to tiny ones. We are at http://www.babydevelopmentnow.com
Thanks Deborah for your lovely comment and sharing a link on your resources page. I am so thrilled that you like learning4kids and you have now got me thinking about adapting this activity for older babies like your 16 month old. I also have a little one that is 15 months old and was thinking that she would love to play with rice as this is a great sensory tool. You could fill a large container or bucket with rice and hide small toys amongst it and your 16 month old can search with their hands for their toys. I will definitely have to do this with my little one and write a post on it. Thank you for the inspiration! I look forward to having a look around your site. Thanks again!

With your auditory child, this can be a great time to learn ABC's, practice spelling words or memorize multiplication tables. Normally, the auditory child will be distracted by the other noises about them, whilst the car can be less distracting.
