If you have ever been in a position where you have to keep in touch with other folks that may be too far away to talk to but communication is needed then you know how essential a two way radio system can be. The point is that these radios are genuinely useful and can essentially be a real time saver.
Each year, all the males in our family go on a fishing excursion to Lake Champlain. There are usually 10 to 20 of us and we normally take 5 to 8 boats. One of the chief issues we always had was getting everyone back for lunch or dinner since we all like to eat at the same time. Often we would be searching for people for many hours, and never be able to find them.
Then not too long ago, I decided that I would buy a few walkie talkies and place them in the boats. During my search I came across the Motorola two way radios and purchased 4 of them to find out how they worked. These Motorala radios really amazed me with the range and how well they worked out on the lake. We never even lost contact with the boats that had a two-way radio, of course I didn’t have enough radios for every boat so we still would lose people. As a result, after trying them out, the following year I made certain we had a radio for every last boat. This was a truly terrific thing because the next year my uncle’s boat broke down and wouldn’t start and the fact that he was approximately 3 miles away from the camp meant that we would have had a tough time searching for him. He notified us on the two-way radio and we went out and got him in. If he couldn’t have notified us, he would have had to row back roughly 3 miles.
